I grew up in a rural Vermont town called Monkton where there are more cows than people. My dad's side of the family chartered Monkton in 1762 and there are still many Hoag's living in the town. I am proud to be a 14th generation Vermonter!
In high school I played field hockey, basketball, softball, and sang in the chorus. I took piano lessons for 8 years and worked summers at a berry farm for 13 years. I graduated from Mount Abraham Union High School and then from Castleton University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Mathematics. This is my 7th year teaching.
I live in Fairfield with my husband, our dog Platinum, and our 6 laying hens. I love to be outside! In the Spring and Summer I enjoy fishing, boating, biking, gardening, eating creemees, going to VT Lake Monsters games, and having bonfires with s'mores. In the Fall and Winter I like to go apple picking, carve pumpkins, snowmobile, and snowshoe. I enjoy crafts, baking, and watching sports year-round. I root for the Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots, and Celtics.
Teaching is my passion. I also love music and having fun, so I often include components of those into our school day.
